Super yacht management
Advantages of Yacht Registration on the Isle of Man
Yacht owners know the Isle of Man to be a longstanding, secure, cost efficient base for the registration and management of yachts. It is part of the British Red Ensign Group, which entitles Manx ships to British Consular services world-wide and Royal Navy protection in an emergency. As a result of the 'Megayacht Code', the Island is increasingly attracting Red Ensign vessels for registration.
These are some of the benefits enjoyed by yacht owners and operators in the Isle of Man.
- Favourable tax and VAT arrangements
- A highly efficient registration service
- The support of dedicated, professional Marine Administration Staff
- Support in safety issues; manning; pollution prevention and officer certification requirements for yachts
- Total security of mortgages registered on the Isle of Man
- The advatages and prestige of Red Ensign status
- Minimal registration costs and no tonnage tax
Alternative Fees Scheme
The Alternative Fee Scheme was introduced in May 2000 by the Marine Administration as a new approach to ship surveys. The scheme initiated a new way of paying fees for statutory certification and the inspection of Cargo Ships and Mobile Offshore Drilling Units on the Isle of Man Register. When the commercial Registry of Yachts on the Island was introduced, the scheme was extended to include vessels over 24 metres.
