Training
Today’s maritime environment demands the highest level of training.
In order to give added value and an increased level of expertise to both clients and seafarers, Bibby International Services provides a separate and dedicated highly committed training resource. As such, the Training Department is responsible for ensuring that all officers and ratings are qualified to current IMO/STCW 95/MCA/ISM and OPITO training standards and that any company specific requirements are implemented and fulfilled.
Our dedicated Department offers an ongoing programme to meet both the above needs and to this end, courses and course providers are continuously evaluated to ensure their quality and consistency. We provide clients with an annual training matrix, in which recommendations on training needs and priorities are expanded upon and this, combined with detailed budget costs, enables the client to maximise their valuable training resources.
Seafarer training is not merely an aspect of our services, it underpins our philosophy on manning.
Recruitment
We have a broad cross section of expertise within the Department, ensuring that Fleet personnel are only employed following the most rigorous selection procedures. Such procedures ensure that only fully certificated and experienced sea staff who offer the client required skill sets are recruited.
Key Functions of the Training Department:-
- Full realisation of funding from the UK Government SMarT scheme through our capacity as an accredited Training Provider
- Ensure the cost effectiveness of courses
- Continuous evaluation of training providers to ensure that the highest standards are being maintained
- Administration of a fully documented Performance Review System
- Management of annual Officer and Rating training budgets
- Management of Trainee Rating budgets
- Administration of Officer study leave arrangements
- Maintenance of full administrative procedures and training records
- Co-ordination of training in Manila and Mumbai, as a global training provider
